The season of Lent is an opportunity to reflect on what it means to live faithfully together. Today’s readings remind us that God gave the gift of the Law and the Prophets to guide people to live in peace, justice and faithfulness with each other and all of creation.
Jerónimo Carranza works for our partner organisation in Honduras, Fundación Equipo de Reflexión, Investigación y Comunicación (ERIC). He reflects on what living together looks like for the people involved in La Milpa, a sustainable farming project.
“Communion means being together, living the value of solidarity. Living the possibility of sharing what we have, what we do, what we possess, our knowledge, our joy, even our sadness... Working in community, in communion, leads us to this, to achieving reciprocity with our brothers and sisters, with our colleagues, and ultimately becoming friends and sharing the table as the first Christian community did in the Acts of the Apostles.”
Inspired by such examples, let us live together in peace, justice and faithfulness.
Gracious God,
thank you for your loving laws.
Help us to follow Jesus
to fullness of living with you,
our neighbours and all creation.
Amen.
