Daniel the carpenter
In October last year, you responded generously to our Family Fast Day Appeal, inspired by the story of our neighbour Daniel, a young carpenter in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Daniel learned his craft at a training centre your donations support, and with the guidance of skilled local experts like Simon, Daniel learned to craft different kinds of furniture. Simon recognised Daniel’s potential early on, saying, “I saw that Daniel is one who understands things quickly. I am proud when I see the young people that I trained who are now independent.”
Daniel’s determination, combined with the skills he learned at the centre, enabled him to open his own workshop where he made and sold furniture and provided for his family.
